Intro
Goals

To transform an early 20th century church into a group of 40 condos that reflects a modern urban lifestyle while still respecting the integrity and character of a treasured heritage site.

Solution

This design was accomplished by integrating the clean lines of contemporary materials and a design strategy that would complement, rather than compete with, the imposing presence of a grand, century-old building. Generous windows and high ceilings. Bright kitchens and luxurious bathrooms equipped with today’s most popular materials. The careful selection and placement of lighting fixtures. Unexpected breaks in the symmetry of the layouts that create interesting new angles sight lines and traffic flow. Above all, throughout the project, close attention was paid to the smallest of details.

Results

A dramatically contemporary design that successfully enhances and fully utilizes the existing architectural and historical values.

In collaboration with Béïque Legault Thuot Architectes.
